Summer Lovin'

beach

There are few things better than relaxing on the beach on a hot summer's day watching the waves roll in to shore, reading and generously slathered in coconut lotion.

Unfortunately, those days happen much rarer than I would like, with pesky things like school, and work getting in the way. There's nothing wrong with a little daydream though and these pieces make up a pretty ideal beach day situation I think.

Bikinis are little scary at the best of times, but you can't go wrong with a classic black  high-waisted one, one you won't have to chuck out next year for the next new trendy one you'll regret a few weeks later. Add to the mix some tortoiseshell shell sunnies to protect those precious peepers and a light dress to throw over the top when you take a break from sunning on the sand to go for a shop or lunch (hard life eh?).

Now if only maths homework would bugger off for a day or two..

Florals and neutrals

I've probably mentioned this at least a thousand times, but whooooo it's spring in the southern hemisphere; and spring calls for some sort of a closet turnover. I've packed up all my knits save for one cardigan and scarves and beanies have all been demoted to the back shelves waiting their next turn when autumn rolls around again. I sure will miss snuggling down with in my doona with a cup of tea and book.

I recently decided that I'm going to slowly build up my wardrobe again, but this time with much more basics; and classic colours; navy blue, blush, beige, white and black. The other day I noticed I have countless dresses, tops and skirts in loud, crazy prints which I wear so rarely because they are so hard to co-ordinate, or only go with one other piece in my closet! I've also suddenly become infatuated with stripes and am currently looking for the perfect navy and white breton top. This is proving much harder than I expected, with the ones I've seen lately being the wrong, stripe-width, sleeve length and other harrowing problems. Any suggestions?

Cause i'm a fool for you

shirt: Sportsgirl dress: Mum's vintage dotti bag: Collete Bracelet: forever21

If you follow me on instagram (@joyce_to_the_world) you'll probably already know that I cut my hair. Because of the ombre, and my hair being naturally black and all, my split ends had split ends and it was all getting a bit sad so I've cut most of the bleached tips off. I couldn't bear to part with it all at once though, so I've still got about 3 centimetres of blondish hair left. What do you think?

Today I went out for shopping and lunch at grill'd today, to try out their garden goodness veggie burger and holy moly, it's my new favourite burger. I was reading a article on sydney's top ten burgers and this one was tenth place so I'm looking forward to trying all the other ones.

Whatever people say, that's what i'm not

jumper: H&M belt: Witchery dress: Ladakh shoes: can't-remember-sorry

Walked around doing this all day and annoying the hell out of everyone as per usual

Akjhfaksjdghsfkjgh school. Being the lazy person that I am, even just having to get up early and making myself presentable (e.g. getting dressed, brushing my teeth etc you know what I mean) packing all my things into a bag that I need for the day, eating breakfast and heading out all the door, all in under an hour's time. WOW that was a long sentence. But I'm constantly amazed at people (basically everyone other than myself) who manage to do this, and not end up grumpy by the time they actually arrive at school (ahem me).

Right, rant over.

Although this outfit is pretty tame for internet standards, (when this extists, what isn't?!!) but I did get a lot of weird looks walked around out-and-about today in my conservative.. dwelling area. But yes! This means that I'm doing something different and although not every outfit (different or not) is going to be a successful, I think putting together outfits and whatnot, gets better with practise, so here I am practising. :)

I won't go until you come outside

scarf+jeans: Vallegirl jumper: Miss Shop jacket: forever21 boots: topshop

Winter is well on its way, and I could not be happier to roll out the knits. Big woolly scarves and jumpers feel like an all-day hug. I can't believe that I this jacket hasn't yet been on here, since I wear it it literally every day, I'm not kidding ask anyone who knows me, this jacket gets thrown over everything. It's so darn warm and versatile, and well, just perfect really.

A few days ago, I was moving around things on the shelves on my room; and I really like the idea of displaying these beauties. Since I don't really have a lot of chances to wear them, and they are way too pretty to be shut inside the closet.

We (in Australia) are well into our second week of holidays and I am not nearly ready enough to go back to school. Can I please wake up at 10 and have a nice big breakfast forever?

A few new things

This plate is bigger than it looks, I couldn't even finish it!

Buy one get one free, yes!

How amazing does Lauren Conrad look?
Here are some of the new things which I've bought in the last week or so. For some weird reason, now that it's Autumn, I've suddenly realised how amazing pastel nail polishes are. I think it's because since most of the world's population live in the northern hemisphere and have opposite seasons, I've tricked myself into getting excited for spring..?

This might have something to do with the fact that I picked up some pretty tortoiseshell sunglasses..Although since Sydney is still sunny 60% of the time, even in the dead of winter, I'll still have plenty of opportunities to wear them. Don't be too jealous of our winter sun though, we never ever get snow, not even a little bit. I have actually touched snow and am always oh-so-jealous of people who get to enjoy a white christmas. *sad face*. Note to self; stop going through pinterest boards dedicated to the arrival of spring in the northern hemisphere and concentrate about being glad about autumn instead.

I also finally go my hands on the gorgeous Lauren Conrad's Beauty book. It never fails to amaze me how she always managed to look amazingly-put-together every time she steps out the door and hopefully I'll get a few pointers!! :)

*The lighting in the first picture is different to that in the rest because I was playing around with my lighting and somehow didn't realise it was drastically different until I was editing, and by then it was too late. Sorry if it bothers you!

We got pink flamingoes in the front yard

Rather than a huge Christmas present 'haul' I've decided to just show you my most favourite-est present this year, since most of my presents have been either eaten, or used and are no longer so nice to photograph.

This lovely Ninewest wallet was a present from Mama and she really does know me so well. I've been looking for a nice wallet for ages and this one ticks all the boxes; glossy, zips-up-over-and-then-down-the-sides, reasonably roomy and striped insides (!). Apparently they're on sale now too, with the whole stock-take/boxing-day fiasco going on.

Here's the link if you're looking for a new wallet and you fancy this one: http://www.ninewest.com.au/clutches-wallets/one-stop-shopper/w2/i1871469_1433827/

Happy Holidays!

Hey I put some new shoes on

How beautiful are my new babies? I spotted them at Wanted Shoes a few days ago, since I've been for a pair in this style forever. On sale too! It was meant to be <3

These will be perfect for Christmas and the holidays since they go with almost everything. I'm not going to lie, they are not the most comfortable footwear around, but for their height; which is a bonus since I am little and these bring me eye-level with other less vertically challenged people, they aren't that bad.

The change in my pockets just wasn't enough

 (jumper H&M, loafers forever21)

This jumper from H&M is literally the most comfortable and fluffiest piece of clothing I own, up to the point that when I'm wearing it I constantly have the urge to hug myself (sad I know). But you really need to see (and feel!) it in real life to understand of fluffiness.

It's still sort of 'Summer but not quite' weather so a light, mint jumper seems to be the perfect choice and I love how looks with pastel pink and gold.

After wondering around Bing Lee for a looooong time looking for a new TV since ours broke many months ago and we've been not bothered to buy a new one since now (still not purchased FYI), we went for food (YAYYY), more precisely Fogo Brazilia's amazing burgers. They also have the very best onion rings I've ever tasted.

Give me a minute while my heart stops breaking

With summer, comes unfortunately, mosquitoes. Sometime in the middle of the night last night, I heard the familiar  irritating buzz of a mosquito and my first thought was "Just take a bite and go away so I can sleep." Turns out, it did, several big fat bites on my face. So no close ups of my face today, for obvious reasons.

Moving to nicer, prettier topics, I spotted this necklace in my jewellery box the other day and wondered why I don't wear it nearly as much as I should, so I'm wearing it today. I love the vintage feel and the little pearl embellishments; it was a birthday present from a friend and I think she bought it from Love Couture..

Going to stay home for the rest of the week-end until the big itchy red lumps on my face begin to fade away. Wasn't that an attractive mental picture.

You and I buy star maps and drive around los angeles

Went to Crinitis for the first time today, for our end-of-season netball dinner and oh my goodness, their food is just unbelievable, even though you're full, you just want to keep eating, that's how good everything was. We ordered one of their famous metre long pizzas and it was freaking GINORMOUS, even after stuffing ourselves to the rim, there were still three slices left. But the very best thing on their menu has to be their wedges. Crunchy on the outside with a light fluffy middle, dipped in sour cream and sweet and chili sauce. *drools*

After wondering around the harbour for a bit, we stopped at Starbucks, and I tried my first salted caranel frappacino, it was very good, but I think they over-salted my whipped cream slightly. Or maybe I was just still overly full and probably didn't enjoy it properly, so I might give it another go some other time. :/

A very simple outfit today- I wore my striped jumper, which is perfect for the awkward winter-to-spring-to-summer transitioning weather that Sydney's going through at the moment; with it being sunny one moment and cloudy and windy the next.
